Roddy Davis

Roddy's career focus has shifted over the past three decades from tax issues relating to businesses and business owners to a mix of business law and estate planning law, including tax aspects. He is passionately Involved in entrepreneurism - from helping business owners with the myriad of legal issues involved in a successful business launch to coordinating angel investments through the Piedmont Angel Network.

Roddy works with clients who own businesses to identify ownership succession opportunities and pitfalls. He counsels his clients with a multi-disciplinary approach to produce much higher probabilities of good long-term outcomes. He greatly values the depth and longevity of his partnerships with his clients as he helps them grow, solve problems, and navigate around the obstacles of business ownership.

  • Co-founder and Co-Chair of the Piedmont Angel Network LLC, a member-managed early stage investment fund
  • Past Chair of the Tax Section of the North Carolina Bar Association ("NCBA"), and served as a member of the Joint Committee of the Business and Tax Sections on the NCBA that drafted the initial version of North Carolina's Limited Liability Company Act
  • Served as Co-Chair of the NCBA's Tax Section's Ad Hoc Committee that drafted the 1999 revisions to the LLC Act
  • Serves on the Board of Advisors of the UNC Tax Institute
